Eric Snell

Artist

I am an artist with a long and sustained commitment to education. Following on from my position as Associate Professor of Drawing at the É cole des Beaux Arts in Caen, Normandy I was invited to set up and head the first nationally approved school of Art and Design in my home island of Guernsey.

To support the teaching and learning within this new school I established the International Artist in Residence Programme, which preceded the setting up of the Art and Islands Foundation and over a period of 20 years, worked with some of todays’ leading artists from around the world, such as Antony Gormley, Andy Goldsworthy and Cai Guo-Qiang.

I have experience in developing and leading workshops in painting, sculpture, drawing and printmaking in all sectors, up to and including BA/ degree level, and currently I am a visiting professor at the Casper David Friedrich Institute in Greifswald, Germany where I am responsible for running a series of workshops in thinking and in the generating of ideas. I am also an External Standards Verifier for the BTEC Art and Design programme across the country.

Now based in the UK, I am represented by a number of galleries in mainland Europe, North America and Japan, and have work in a number of leading public and private collections.
