Hello! I’m Jacob and I have recently completed my BEng in Mechanical Engineering at Northumbria University Newcastle. Whilst at University I have been sponsored by the Royal Air Force through the Defence Technical Undergraduate Scheme, and after graduation will begin my initial officer training with the RAF. The military has provided me many opportunities to both travel and represent them, including trips to South Africa for Rugby; Mexico for a diving qualification; Italy for climbing; and within the UK for the canoe polo championships.

I completed my GCSEs at a state comprehensive and achieved 10 A* - B grades, including As in Mathematics, English, and Biology. With these grades, I achieved a place at Welbeck Defence Sixth Form College to complete my A-Levels in Maths, Physics and Electronics. Alongside my A-Levels I achieved my EPQ, ILM level 3, PADI open water diving qualification and in my final year was awarded sportsman of the year.

Throughout my life I have always had an interest in sport. I played football for 6 years, during which I captained the winning team of the county cup for three years. When I moved to secondary school, I was given the opportunity to play rugby and have been playing ever since. Throughout the last 10 years I have been on the winning team for: 3 Union County cups; 1 League County cup; and a South-West championship. I was also selected for the Rosslyn Park Sevens Tournament in London and have been playing for a League 1 local team during my time at university.
